PROFESSIONAL CAREER STATEMENT

To assist the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application, please submit a statement describing the reasons why you are seeking admission to the Special Education Department. Include experiences and events that have influenced your decision, and be sure to mention the specific certification or degree program to which you are seeking admission. We encourage you to assess your own strengths and to share what you see as your potential contribution to the field of special education. If you have formulated specific postschool career goals, feel free to share them as well.

• Your statement must be typewritten (word processed), double-spaced, and is limited to a maximum of 750 words.
• Please include a resume along with your professional statement.
• Be sure to sign and date your statement.

The Committee weighs the professionalism of your statement along with other materials in your file. We admit those students whose entire file suggests the ability to succeed in our program, to become professional role models, and to contribute to the field of special education.
