Important Dates to Remember for Graduate Students for admissions:
1. Graduate School applications, fees, and transcripts are due in the Graduate School at least one month before the departmental deadline |
2. The GRE General Test (GRE) should be taken at least two months ahead of departmental deadline. |
3. Final Department of Special Education deadline for receipt of all materials: click here |
**For Special Accommodations, contact Educational Testing Services (ETS) as early as possible in order to get test results sent back to the Department of Special Education by the deadline.
Explanations of Deadlines
1. Your application to the Graduate School is due at least 30 days prior to the Department of Special Education's deadline. Until the Graduate School receives your application fee, the application form, and ALL transcripts of colleges and universities attended, it will not process your application and forward its information to us. If all these materials are not received in the Graduate School at least 30 days prior to our deadline, we cannot assure you that your application will be able to be considered by the Department of Special Education.
The transcripts must be sent directly by EACH institution you attended, no matter how brief the time. Information on the transcript of one institution with respect to courses taken at another institution is not sufficient to meet the Graduate School requirement.
We require a set of original transcripts for our own use independent of the Graduate School. It's a smart idea to order a transcript for yourself at the same time that you ask for transcripts to be sent to us and to the Graduate School. When you receive your own copy, it indicates that your request was received and acted on by the sending institution.
2. Be sure that the test date of your GRE General Test (GRE) is done at least 2 months before the Department deadline so that the scores will reach us in time. Be sure that you have the test results sent to the Department of Special Education at the University of Utah - not the Graduate School, the Admissions Office, the College of Education, the Department of Educational Studies, etc. Misaddressed test results get lost and cause a great deal of grief to all concerned.
3. It is your responsibility to ensure that ALL materials reach the Department by the final deadline. An incomplete application will not be considered.
Information in the application packet is the only information that is authoritative. Any information to the contrary cannot be relied upon unless it comes directly from the Admissions Committee and is in writing.
