Welcome to the Office for Diversity, Access, and Equity
of the College of Education
It is a privilege to welcome you to the Office for Diversity, Access, and Equity of the College of Education for the University of Utah. The College of Education is committed to attracting a diverse body of students, both undergraduate and graduate, and faculty to join in our effort to provide extraordinary teaching and research opportunities for all.
The long lasting history of the College of Education is rooted in the quality of its faculty and student population. The College provides a compassionate, collaborative environment in which students are encouraged to express their cultural traditions in and outside the classroom. Students regularly communicate their satisfaction with our diverse program offerings and community of faculty and graduate students.
The College of Education is one of the top education schools situated in the Intermountain West and the campus overlooks Salt Lake City. The university and surrounding community regularly hosts cultural celebrations that attract individuals from around the country. There are numerous programs within the college that contribute to the diversity of the student body of the College of Education, including the Utah Education Policy Center, Adelante: A College Awareness and Preparatory Partnership, and the University Neighborhood Partnership-Youth Education Task Force. The College of Education is certainly proud of the accomplishments and recognition that the faculty in the Department of Education, Culture, and Society received from the University as one of the "2007-2008 Diversity and Equity Award" recipients. Certainly, as a College, we recognize that there is much more work to do around diversity, access, and equity and we are committed to working hard towards these goals. To be sure, this is one of the major charges of the Diversity Action Task Force.
