Dr. Lauren A. Liang received her Ph.D. in 2004 in Curriculum and Instruction- Literacy Education from the University of Minnesota, where she was a Guy Bond Fellow in Reading Education. She also has a M.A. in Cognition and Development from the University of California-Berkeley. Prior to her university work, she taught in elementary and middle schools.
Teaching and Research Interests:
Dr. Liang's research and teaching focuses on comprehension instruction in the middle grades and children's and adolescent literature. Her work has been published in journals such as Reading Research Quarterly, Research in the Teaching of English, and the NRC Yearbook. Dr. Liang serves on committees and editorial boards for local, national, and international reading organizations. She also reviews children's literature for The Horn Book Guide, The Five Owls, and other publications.
