Laurie Ramirez
Graduate Assistant

Laurie Ramirez is finishing her third year in the Teaching & Learning doctoral program. She received her BA in Secondary Education and her MA in Linguistics, both from the University of Utah. Laurie taught Spanish, English, ESL, World Languages, and Cultural Studies for 11 years in a local middle school. At the University, Laurie has worked as a TA in courses in teacher education and literacy. Laurie has also worked as a supervisor in the field for the Murray/Davis district and has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher education. In the coming year, Laurie will be a cohort leader for the Granite District Secondary Teacher Education cohort. Laurie's research interests include pre-service teacher education, critical media literacy, and issues related to language in education. In the coming year, Laurie plans to begin work on her dissertation and ultimately plans to teach at the university level. Laurie's personal interests include hiking, reading, cooking, playing volleyball, attending Real Salt Lake soccer games, and spending time with family and friends.
