Featuring Keynote Speaker Marilyn Cochran-Smith
Marilyn Cochran-Smith is the John E. Cawthorne Professor of Education and Director of the Doctoral Program in Curriculum and Instruction. An active researcher and participant in the national and international educational research communities, Cochran-Smith is the Immediate Past-President of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and Co-Chair of AERA's National Panel on Research and Teacher Education. She is also the Editor of The Journal of Teacher Education and Co-Editor of the Teachers College Press series on Practitioner Inquiry. Dr. Cochran-Smith is Chair of the Evidence Team for Boston College's Teachers for a New Era project and a member of the TNE Leadership Team. In 2004, Marilyn Cochran-Smith received the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education's highest honor, the Edward C. Pomeroy Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teacher Education and the Carl A. Grant Multicultural Research Award presented to her by the National Association for Multicultural Education. Dr. Cochran-Smith has written many award-winning articles and books on diversity in teaching and teacher education, teacher research, teacher learning, and competing agendas for education reform, including Policy, Practice and Politics in Teacher Education: Editorials from the Journal of Teacher Education (2006), Walking the Road: Race, Diversity and Social Justice in Teacher Education (2004), and Inside/Outside: Teacher Research and Knowledge (1993), which was the winner of 1995 AACTE Award for Excellence in Professional Writing in Teaching and Teacher Education.
