To apply to a program in Education, Culture & Society
you must complete the following:
1. Graduate
Application (University of Utah). This form is submitted to the Admissions
Office at the University of Utah, and it is the Graduate School that formally
admits you to graduate study upon the recommendation of the department.
The form is fairly brief and the questions are general enough for students
to apply to different departments. There is a $45.00 fee for this application.
2. Transcripts of previous academic work need to be submitted to the Admissions
Office at the University of Utah.
3. Department Application (Education,
Culture & Society).
This form is submitted to the Department of Education, Culture & Society
and is specifically tailored to the department's graduate programs. There
is no charge for this application.
4. Arrange for three or more letters of recommendation (accompanied by departmental Recommendation
Forms) to be submitted to the department. At least two of the recommendations
should be from individuals at academic institutions who can assess your academic
potential for graduate study.
5. Submit a Personal Statement to the department describing your career goals
in 1 to 2 pages.
6. Submit a Vita to the department.
Application Deadlines
Decisions on admission will be made as follows. Note that the University materials must be received a month before the department materials.
- Admission decisions are made once a year in the Spring. All department admission materials must be received by February 15 th.
- To have your application considered for the above date, the University application is due to the Graduate Admissions Office by January 15 th .
- Applicants not admitted to the semester for which they are applying must re-apply for admission to the Graduate School and the re-admission fee of $35.
- All students admitted to the graduate program are required to matriculate beginning in the Fall
The GRE test is not required for admission into this program.
