Advanced Placement Summer Institute
for Teachers
The College of Education at the University of Utah has hosted the AP Summer Institute for 6 years. The College's mission statement says, "The mission of the College of Education is to create a learning environment that fosters discovery and dissemination of knowledge to promote learning, equitable access, and enhanced outcomes for all students." We feel like we've been able to foster this mission, in part, by offering the APSI.
Unfortunately the Utah State budget cuts have dramatically affected higher education. The University of Utah already experienced budget cuts in 2008 and is facing more in 2009. These budget cuts are going to affect faculty and staff in all programs. Consequently, we are unable to offer the 2009 APSI due to a lack of funds.
